Kaş (pronounced 'Kash') is a small fishing, diving, yachting, and tourist town, and a district in Antalya Province, Turkey, located 168 km west of the city of Antalya. As a tourist resort, it remains relatively unspoilt. The town of Kaş is situated on a hill that slopes down to the Turquoise Coast in southwestern Turkey. The district experiences a typical Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and warm, wet winters, which supports the growth of oranges, lemons, and bananas. The lowland areas are also cultivated with cut flowers and a variety of fruits and vegetables, many of which are grown year-round in greenhouses. The hillsides are known for producing honey and almonds, while at higher altitudes, there are extensive pine forests. The weather tends to be drier at these higher elevations. Although agriculture remains important, tourism is the main source of income in the district, which boasts many hotels and guest houses.
