Some of the most famous tourist attractions of this city can be monuments like the Cathedral of Sameba which was built in 2004 and is an orthodox mainly cathedral and the beautiful Square of Liberty, which is located in the city center. For culture lovers, Tbilisi is a great city because it has several museums including the National Museum of Georgia which brings several important museums in various parts of the country or the Historical Museum where you can learn all about the history of this city. For mountain lovers, Tbilisi is as well an ideal place as it is quite hilly. One of the best known is the Mtatsminda Mountain. Stop
About the city: Uplistsikhe, often referred to as the "Fortress of the Lord," is one of Georgia’s most extraordinary historical sites. Nestled on the banks of the Mtkvari River, this ancient rock-hewn town dates back to the early Iron Age and flourished as a major political and religious center until the late Middle Ages. Visitors are captivated by its unique blend of pagan and Christian architecture, with winding tunnels, ancient dwellings, and ceremonial halls carved right into the cliffs. Exploring Uplistsikhe is like stepping back in time. Wander through the labyrinth of narrow passageways and chambers, marvel at the ancient wine cellars, and discover the remnants of a once-thriving community. The highlight of the site is the basilica, built on the highest point, offering panoramic views of the surrounding valley and river below—an excellent spot for breathtaking photographs. To make the most of your visit, wear comfortable shoes as the rocky terrain can be uneven and slippery. Guided tours are available for a deeper understanding of Uplistsikhe’s fascinating history and legends. Don’t forget to bring water, especially in the warmer months, as shade is limited on the exposed cliffs. Whether you are a history enthusiast, an archaeology lover, or simply seeking an unforgettable adventure, Uplistsikhe is a must-see destination in Georgia.
